New Car Service in Braddon

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At City Car Care Braddon in Braddon, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At City Car Care Braddon, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit City Car Care Braddon for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.

Your tyres are the only part of your vehicle that actually touches the road. Four contact patches, each roughly the size of your hand, are responsible for accelerating, braking, steering and keeping your vehicle stable in all weather conditions. Looking after them isn't just about saving money—it plays a major role in your family's safety.

Whether you're commuting around Braddon, heading interstate or planning an off-road adventure, keeping your tyres in good condition helps your vehicle perform exactly as it was designed.

At City Car Care Braddon, we supply and fit quality tyres at competitive rates with same-day service available (subject to availability). As an independently owned Repco Authorised Service centre, our experienced technicians also provide wheel alignments, wheel balancing, tyre rotations, puncture repairs, tyre inspections and pressure testing to help maximise tyre life and keep you driving safely.

Your tyres work hard every kilometre—give them the attention they deserve before they give you an expensive surprise. Why Are Tyres So Important? Tyres do far more than simply roll down the road. They are engineered to: Provide grip when accelerating and braking Help your vehicle corner safely Channel water away during wet weather to reduce aquaplaning Absorb bumps and road imperfections Support the full weight of your vehicle Improve fuel efficiency when correctly inflated Even modern safety systems such as ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and traction control can only work effectively if your tyres have sufficient grip. The Early Signs Your Tyres Need Attention Many tyre problems develop gradually, making them easy to overlook.

Watch for: Uneven tread wear Cracks appearing in the sidewalls Cuts, bulges or exposed cords Vehicle pulling to one side Steering wheel vibration Increased road noise Longer stopping distances Regular loss of tyre pressure If you notice any of these signs, it's worth having your tyres professionally inspected before the problem becomes more expensive—or unsafe. It's Not Always the Tyre That's Causing the Problem Uneven tyre wear is often a symptom rather than the actual fault.

Several vehicle components can contribute to premature tyre wear, including: Incorrect wheel alignment Worn suspension components Damaged shock absorbers Steering wear Incorrect tyre pressures Wheel imbalance Replacing tyres without fixing the underlying cause can result in the same wear pattern returning on your new tyres.

That's why City Car Care Braddon performs comprehensive tyre inspections to help identify the reason behind unusual wear, rather than simply replacing the tyre. How Regular Tyre Maintenance Saves Money Tyres are a significant investment, but simple maintenance can dramatically extend their lifespan.

Regular servicing may include: Tyre pressure testing Wheel balancing Wheel alignments Tyre rotation Puncture repairs (where safe and appropriate) Tread depth inspections These services help tyres wear more evenly, improve ride comfort and may reduce fuel consumption by lowering rolling resistance. Planning a Road Trip or Off-Road Adventure? One of the most common times tyre problems occur is during long-distance travel.

Highway speeds generate significant heat inside a tyre, while rough gravel roads and off-road tracks place extra stress on the sidewalls and tread.

Before setting off, City Car Care Braddon recommends having your tyres professionally inspected to check: Tyre condition Tread depth Correct pressures Signs of damage Wheel balance Overall suitability for your planned journey A quick inspection before travelling can provide valuable peace of mind and may help prevent an inconvenient roadside breakdown. Tyres and Canberra's Changing Conditions Drivers around Braddon experience a wide variety of driving conditions throughout the year.

Cold winter mornings can reduce tyre pressures, while hot summer roads increase tyre temperatures during longer trips. Frequent braking in city traffic, potholes after heavy rain and weekend escapes into regional New South Wales can all affect tyre wear.

Regular tyre pressure checks and inspections help ensure your tyres continue performing safely regardless of the season. Simple Ways to Make Your Tyres Last Longer You don't need to be mechanically minded to extend tyre life.

A few simple habits can make a noticeable difference: Check tyre pressures every month and before long trips. Avoid hitting kerbs and potholes where possible. Rotate tyres at the intervals recommended by your workshop. Have wheel alignments checked if you hit a large pothole or notice uneven wear. Remove unnecessary weight from your vehicle. Have your tyres inspected during every scheduled service. These small habits can help maximise tyre life while improving safety and fuel efficiency. An Unusual Tyre Fact Did you know tyres don't always wear out because the tread disappears?

Many tyres are replaced because they have simply aged. Rubber naturally hardens over time due to exposure to sunlight, oxygen and changing temperatures. Even if the tread still looks acceptable, older tyres can lose grip and become more prone to cracking.

That's one reason why routine tyre inspections remain important—even for vehicles that aren't driven very often. Tyre FAQs How often should I have my tyres inspected? It's a good idea to have them inspected during every scheduled service or before any long journey. If you notice unusual wear or handling changes, have them checked sooner. Can incorrect tyre pressure affect fuel economy? Yes. Under-inflated tyres create more rolling resistance, meaning your engine has to work harder and may use more fuel. Why does my steering wheel vibrate at highway speeds? A common cause is wheel imbalance, although worn suspension or steering components can also contribute. A professional inspection can identify the exact cause. Is tyre rotation really necessary? Yes. Front and rear tyres often wear at different rates. Rotating them regularly promotes more even wear and helps maximise tyre life. Can tyres be repaired after a puncture? Many punctures can be safely repaired depending on their location and the extent of the damage. A professional inspection will determine whether a repair is safe or whether replacement is recommended. Keep Your Tyres Working at Their Best Your tyres influence almost every aspect of your vehicle's safety, comfort and performance. Regular inspections, correct pressures and preventative maintenance can help you avoid unnecessary tyre replacement while giving you greater confidence behind the wheel.

Whether you need new tyres at competitive rates, a wheel alignment, balancing, tyre rotation, pressure testing, puncture repairs or a professional tyre inspection, City Car Care Braddon is here to help. As your trusted independent Repco Authorised Service centre in Braddon, we'll help keep your tyres performing safely for every journey—whether it's around town or across Australia.
